Dacia will launch a new family road car at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March. This is the sibling of the Dacia Lodgy Glace. Dacia’s third Trophée Andros campaign is different as it features an MPV. In the upcoming season, two Lodgy Glace entries will be on the grid for each race. Alain Prost, the runner-up in the 2010 and 2011 Trophée Andros, will be driving the Dacia Duster Glace. Meanwhile, his son, Nicolas Prost and Evens Stievenart, Alain Prost's teammate and joint winner of the Superfinal at the Stade de France, Paris, will be sharing the other Lodgy Glace.
The Lodgy Glace was built specifically for the Trophée Andros, a unique racing series that’s known as one of the toughest in motorsport. Its technical regulations are very strict. Every aspect of the vehicle is restricted including the materials used as well as the chassis dimensions, gearbox, and tires. But rather than encouraging the use of complex and expensive technical solutions, this series wants the vehicles to use simple, inventive solutions.
The Dacia series is also expected to highlight its reliability. The Lodgy Glace was custom-built by the teams at Tork Engineering (design, production, assembly) and Sodemo (engine). The technical and sporting experts of Renault Sport Technologies (RST) also had a hand. It functions like a conductor as it coordinates the various different technical partners and disciplines (design, engineering), the drivers as well as the Dacia brand itself.
