Daimler denies rumors that Maybach could be sold

As you may know already, the Chinese media reported yesterday that a Chinese company was interested in buying the German luxury brand, but today Daimler wanted to make it clear: Maybach is not for sale! Apparently, the so-called company interested in Maybach was BYD, a Chinese car and battery maker but it appears that they haven't a chance.

"Maybach is an important part of Daimler's product portfolio. There is no other decision," said a Daimler spokesman.

On the other hand, the Chinese company also denied the rumors: "It's not true, it's market speculation. We got calls from the media and we have checked with Chairman Wang," Lin said, referring to Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD. In another statement, the chairman said that BYD will focus now on its cooperation with Daimler on developing electric vehicles for the Chinese market.
