As you may know already, few weeks ago we reported that Daimler and Toyota are currently in talks in order to supply parts but also technology for company’s upcoming hybrid vehicles. This came as a surprise for many of us as we already knew that Daimler has been working with Bmw on hybrid development, but also with Renault-Nissan on electric cars. Toyota had the main advantage as the new partnership means reducing production costs, but also for Daimler because the Japanese manufacturer is a pioneer in the hybrid vehicles segment, as the Prius was introduced 13 years ago.
Still, Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche said that the talks between the German manufacturer and Toyota Motor Corp. brought ‘no concrete results’, According to Dieter Zetsche, both manufacturers are currently testing the waters without any specific topics.
Apparently, Daimler has “ongoing like meetings” with other companies, and the German manufacturer and Toyota didn’t have a meeting recently. Toyota is currently providing hybrid technology for Nissan, which uses it on the Altima Hybrid sedans. The Japanese manufacturer also announced that it will provide the same technology to Mazda.
