Detroit: 2010 Lincoln MKT revealed

2010 Lincoln MKT

Only existed as a concept during the Detroit Auto Show the previous year, Lincoln has introduced a production version of the stunning MKT crossover for 2010 which comes with three rows of seats in contrast to the two rows of MKX. MKT is a member of Lincoln's upgraded range together with the MKZ sedan. The new MKT production model highlights a split waterfall grill, a beveled chamfer running on its shoulder line, a flowing cantrail that serves as a frame for the windows and a horizontal taillight that spreads across its full width covering the liftgate. The interior features leather-trimmed seats, floating armrests, and a flow-through second-row center console as an option and LED-highlighted instrument cluster.

Optional features consist of panoramic roof with fixed glass or a power adaptable variant, 6 or 7 passenger configuration with two choices of second row seating arrangements, a regular 60/40 split folding rear bench seat that comes with outboard seating positions, and a refrigerator at the rear console. The MKT comes with two engine variations including the 3.7-liter Duratec gasoline V6 that generates 268hp (200kW) and 267lb-ft (362Nm) of torque and the newer 3.5-liter EcoBoost gasoline V6 with 355hp (200kW) at 5,700rpm and 350ft-lb (474Nm) of torque. The vehicle also comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and a pair of manual gear shifters behind the steering wheel. AWD is standard on the EcoBoost while optional on the 3.7-liter versions. For added comfort, a fresh rear suspension system was added with a 1:1 shock absorber ratio which dramatically improved suspension isolation and the accommodation of 20inch wheels.

The vehicle furthermore is equipped with the latest state of the art technology such as Active Park Assist which provides automatic parallel parking, electronic-controlled power steering, adjustable cruise control, keyless access and engine start function, adjustable headlights with regular HID globes, wipers with rain sensors, and the Lincoln exclusive keypad entry system called SercuriCode. Extra safety features consist of the new MyKey controller from Ford, Blind Spit Information System, Cross Traffic Alert, a rear-mounted camera for backing up the vehicle, the most current SYNC connectivity system by Ford which is equipped with 911 Assist and total control of the 10-speaker audio system. Available in North America by the middle of this year, the MKT will be built at the Ford's assembly plant in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
