Detroit Auto Show: Jeep Patriot EV

Chrysler LLC unveiled today the new Jeep Patriot EV, a range-extended electric vehicle (EV) which combines the power of an integrated electric generator with a small gasoline engine in order to produce additional energy to power the electric-drive system when needed. The new vehicle comes with a refined and clean front appearance while its interior features all the goodies which were introduced in the refreshed 2009 Jeep Patriot.

As we said, the Jeep Patriot EV uses an electric-drive motor, a small gasoline engine developing 200 hp with an integrated electric generator and an advanced lithium-ion battery system. The range of the vehicle is 400 miles or 644 km (all-electric range of 40 miles or 64 km). The sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) is made in approximately 8 seconds while the top speed is greater than 100 mph or 161 km/h. Photo gallery after the jump!
