Although it’s just the second day of the year, this Monday just got better as Mopar unveiled the 2012 Dodge Charger Redline and announced that it will bring it to the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. According to Chrysler, the new 2012 Dodge Charger Redline is a 426 HEMI-powered showcase of new Mopar performance kits that will arrive later this year.
Stage one gives the car a new look with new carbon fiber exterior components but also interior accents such as a full-width Mopar carbon fiber chin spoiler and two-piece grille featuring a body-color painted-grille surround with black signature "crosshair" insert.
Moreover, we find the Redline Tri-coat paint, new 20 x 8-inch Mopar Black Envy Wheels feature a Pitch Black-painted wheel face with polished accents, carbon fiber door scoops and a new three-piece Mopar carbon fiber rear spoiler. Emphasizing Dodge Charger Redline's fastback silhouette is Mopar's vinyl roof graphic in matte black.
The interior features premium materials such as Mopar aluminum shift bezel and aluminum instrument panel bezel with Redline perimeter accent and new stainless steel Mopar pedal covers with a rubberized pattern for improved traction. The second stage ads world-class power, handling and braking.
2012 Dodge Charger Redline receives a Mopar cat-back performance exhaust system which improves the sound and increases the power, a front-tower cross-brace and front tower brace caps provide increased structural stability for improved handling dynamics and new high-performance Mopar brake linings.
The third stage is concentrated around the engine: the 426 HEMI V8 crate engine delivers an impressive 590 hp, an additional 220 horsepower over the standard the 2012 Dodge Charger R/T. Mopar cast-aluminum valve covers and billet fuel rails are also included in the Dodge Charger Redline's Stage III performance kit. According to Mopar, several industry-first features were introduced on the 2012 Dodge Charger Redline, such as vehicle-information apps, electronic owner manuals, wi-fi and electronic vehicle tracking system (EVTS).
As the flagship of the Dodge brand, the new Dodge Charger is a premium, world-class E-segment sedan that delivers thrilling performance with outstanding levels of craftsmanship, refinement and connectivity features. Ralph Gilles, president and chief executive of the Dodge Brand at Chrysler Group LLC, remarked that the new Charger is an embodiment of the brand's pledge to deliver American performance machines that offers world-class efficiency and technology, as well as authentic materials and distinctive styling.
He remarked that the Charger is loaded with attitude, innovation, and value as evidenced by its new fastback four-door coupe proportions, iconic styling, high-quality execution, precision handling and superb performance, as well as high quality materials and the latest in-car technology. At a glance, it is easy to tell that the Dodge Charger has an efficient and aerodynamic exterior that takes inspiration from the classic second-generation Charger of the late 1960s.
Dodge gave the new Dodge Charger a "ready to attack the road" face, as defined by its new highly detailed "split crosshair" signature grille that features a black satin inset set into its chromed surrounds. The new "Dodge" nameplate is accommodated on the split hexagon-designed grate set just behind the Charger’s chromed grille.
