Besides the GLE 450 AMG, Mercedes-Benz also introduced at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show the all-new 2016 C450 AMG Sport Sedan and Estate models. Both are powered by a 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine that generates 367 hp (270 kW) and 520 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,200 rpm. The engine is able to push the sedan version from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds, while the estate version needs 5.0 seconds.
Top speed is limited to 250 km/h or 155 mph in both cases. Despite these impressive performances, fuel consumption remains low at 7.6 l/100 km for the sedan and 7.7 l/100 km for the estate version, with CO2 emissions of 178 g/km for the sedan and 180 g/km for the estate.
Power is delivered through to the all-wheel-drive system (33% front and 67% rear) through the 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission with short response times.
Just like the C63, the C450 AMG Sport offers the “M” button on the centre console, that allows the driver to feel the high pulling power across the entire rev range. Moreover, the vehicle is fitted with the AMG Ride Control sports suspension offers a 3-stage damper adjustment borrowed from the more potent Mercedes-AMG C63.
When it comes to design, the vehicles feature a front bumper with sporty air intakes, diamond meshes and silver chrome trim. The rear bumper shows matt iridium silver diffuser insert. The sedan comes equipped with a separation edge on the boot lid, while the estate features a roof spoiler.
For those who want even more, the Night Package is available and adds heat-insulating dark tinted glass rearward of the B-pillar, high-gloss black front bumper trim, a high-gloss black diffuser-look insert at the rear, and two black chrome-plated dual tailpipe trim elements.
Moreover, 18-inch 5-spoke black AMG light-alloy wheels featuring a high-sheen finish, while 19-inch wheels in various designs are offered as an option.
Inside, there is a 3-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel, aluminum trim pieces with light-tone longitudinal grain embedded in the instrument panel and the doors, red contrasting topstitching as well as sports seats with AMG-specific seat upholstery layout.
