Detroit Electric and Proton to build electric cars for the European market

It was announced today that the Dutch company Detroit Electric and the Malaysian car manufacturer Proton, signed a new partnership in order to build electric vehicles for the European market. The new vehicles will carry the Detroit Electric badge.
According to Detroit‚ Electric CEO Albert Lam, the new vehicle which will be both practical and affordable, will come in two versions dubbed E63 (no relation to the E63 AMG) and E46. The smaller version will be capable to deliver a maximum range of 180 km while the E63 will be capable to achieve a maximum range of 325 km. Both vehicle will sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in approximately 8.0 seconds while the top speed achieved will be 180 km/h (112 mph). The total power output will be 150 kw (200 hp) while the maximum torque developed will be 380 Nm. Besides the four-speed automatic gearbox the car will feature front and side airbags, ABS, navigation system, cruise control, leather interior, central locking, electric windows and Mp3 compatible radio. According to Auto Motor und Sport the price of the vehicle will range from 19,000 to 23,000. P.S.The car will also be available later in USA and China!
