Dodge Circuit EV production receives green light
Chrysler will be launching its first all-electric vehicle — a high-performance sports model — next year, according to Lou Rhodes, Chrysler’s ENVI division president. He added that the car will be a production version of the Dodge Circuit EV, which rivals the Tesla Roadster in performance but with a lower price.
The Dodge Circuit EV Concept was viewed in last January’s Detroit Auto Show. The production version would have its chassis assembled by Lotus in Europe, then shipped to the U.S. for the electric drivetrain install. For now, the prototypes are being tested. Chrysler doesn’t have a release date yet. A previous CNNMoney report had said that after the sports car, Chrysler will be adding electric sedans, SUVs and crossover models, some of which will also be based on Fiat platforms.

America will in the next few decades face highest oil prices in her history. This is due to unprecedented Asian Growth and higher demands for the same finite oil supplies on earth. America has no oil of her own, and her corporatists would sell it to Asia preferentially for ROI if she did, at the prices Asians are expected to pay. America has abundant electric power. America is about to convert from expensive imported oil to domestic electric power by market place force - not choice! This electric endeavor by Chrysler is a step in the right direction, as is the Tesla, the Aptera, and many others. GM(America)’s “Volt” will be too heavy with its sheet-metal and hydraulics “Old Chev” mentality and it will fail miserably. The Shanghai taxi, a Volt knock-off, already proven in service in Shanghai for two years. It will be imported to America after 2013, when U.S. patents on the batteries used, expire. Chrysler is wise not to directly compete with this “Common Folk” car for cheap! They are smart to seek a higher spot on the market and sell an intermediate, cheaper than Tesla, but still light bodied, and plug-in, not hybrid. America will soon embark on a “Manhattan Project” sized intercity electric bullet train project to defer the cost of liquid fuels. Aside from astounding oil discoveries in the very near future,(not likely) this is the way it will be in America - simple economic deduction?I suppose but valid at any rate.
