Top American sportscar team, Dyson Racing, has been named by Caterham Cars as the official U.S. distributor for the new Caterham-Lola SP/300.R sports model when the first batch of this brand new race and trackday automobile arrives in the country by early 2012. The two companies share a mutual partnership with Lola Cars. Dyson Racing’s connection with Lola Cars goes back more than twenty years. Dyson Racing is among the most successful and oldest privateer race teams in America, having played in IMSA GTO and GTP, SCCA Trans-Am, GRAND-AM, CART and Indy Lights championships since its creation in 1974.
Dyson, which sealed the 2011 ALMS LMP1 Drivers and Team tournament on September 17, will get its demonstration vehicle early next year, with consumer automobiles being shipped to the States from Spring onwards. Team Vice President and Sporting Director, Chris Dyson, commented that Dyson Racing is "pleased" to work with Caterham as the exclusive importer of the SP/300.R for the country.
He added that trackday driving is a "rapidly-growing phenomenon in America" and the vehicle will be "ideal for the many enthusiasts" of the sport. He further stated that there is no vehicle company " more dedicated to producing cars that are pure fun to drive than Caterham," adding that they expect that the SP/300.R will make driving more enjoyable while spending less money.
