Ecotricity planning wind-propelled electric vehicle based on Lotus Exige

Lotus Exige SEco-friendly electricity supplier Ecotricity has been vending green electricity for over ten years now, but its originator Dale Vince has determined to take on a grander venture, which is to make a sports car that is both attractive and wind-propelled electric. At present, Vince is laboring with a crew of engineers and developers a total conversion of a Lotus Exige coupe.

The present improvements on the vehicle can be viewed on the blog of Vince, Zerocarbonista, and also at the present time the Exige has been undressed and its chassis has been lengthened. The compartment for the 96 batteries has also been developed, and manufacture of large parts such as the transmission are being done, while other parts of the car have already been installed. More details after the jump!

The aim of Dale Vince to maintain the strong image of the sports vehicle points to the fact that other interesting aerodynamic aids are being designed, for instance, the ducts on the rear section panels of the Exige observed in the most current video on Vince’s site. Creating a smooth and aerodynamic outline, Vince says, is very easy to accomplish, but making the form thrilling is what required effort. Vince is also eager to incorporate a “Ferrari style” transparent rear trunk so that the mechanicals of the vehicle will be visible to observers.

After all has been said and done, it is anticipated that the vehicle should have a maximum speed of around 100 mph (160 km/h) and an acceleration of 0-62mph (100 km/h) in about 4 seconds, a rate of acceleration that would compete that of many standard supercars, and would win over the identically-designed Tesla Roadster. A model for the vehicle is projected to be finished in the following few months and a production variant will follow soon after this, Vince hopes.
