Electric Dacia Logan Pickup for sale in Iowa

Des Moines Motors, formerly a Chrysler dealer, is offering an electric two-seat pickup that‚ based on the Dacia Logan. The pickup truck is sold under the Electric Motor Cars brand and is claimed to be capable of running 260 miles on a single charge and can haul 2000 lbs of cargo.
It is priced from $33,950, but if you want a wagon version, you’ll have to pay an extra $1000. A van model is priced from $37,950. Power comes from nickel sodium chloride, "ZEBRA" batteries, which will charge in 3 hours on 220 volts or up to 8 hours when powered by 110 volts. Continued after the jump!
EMC supports this offering with a 36,000 mile warranty and 100,000 miles for the battery. Dacia, a subsidiary of Renault, has the compact truck assembled in Romania but there‚ a possibility that final assembly of the EV would move to Florida.
The truck is based on the European Logan, which runs on gasoline and only costs about a third the price of the new electric version. EMC anticipates that a little over a month, there will be 100 examples made.
Currently, there are just three dealers that sell the electric truck; however, Des Moines Motors owner Gene Gabus has plans to later on distribute them in 28 states. Gabus says that there are trucks available for test-drives and advance orders, but customer deliveries are still three months out.
