Enough with the teasers, GT by Citroen unveiled in Paris

We have one reason to be very happy today! Why? Because it's the 2008 Paris Motor Show and all the teaser campaigns are finished now! Citroen finally unveiled its GT Concept and we are speechless! Called GTbyCitroen, , the new concept is a style replica of a vehicle taken from the digital world. The new vehicle was born from the partnership between Citroen and Poliphony, known as the designer of the driving simulation game Gran Turismo 5 on Playstation 3. The GTbyCitroen features in the game an electric drive train which is powered by a fuel cell capable to provide zero emissions. "GTbyCITROEN shows how the worlds of virtual and real-life motoring can join together to create a truly innovative partnership. We were delighted that Citroen approached us and gave us the opportunity to combine our creative strengths to build this very special concept car. To see the car take shape in game and then for real has been a truly unique experience as our work normally stays in the digital world. I just hope I can get behind the wheel of GTbyCITROEN and drive it on a real race track!" said Kazanori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc and creator of Gran Turismo.

Now let's get in! First of all in order to enter the vehicle you have to use the gullwing opening of the two doors. The interior was designed just for two adults, no kids, no dogs, no grandma, no nothing and features two sport buckets dressed in black leather, each fitted with a four-point seat belt! The layout of the low driving position was created in order to improve the driving pleasure allowing the driver to concentrate only at the road. Also, to improve the driver's concentration on the road, with the help of red LEDs, a system projects information such as speed and navigation data on the windscreen, exactly on the driver's direct line of vision. Now that's a user friendly car!

The car comes with the optimal aerodynamic design! The front end features wide air intakes and horizontal headlamps, fitted with blue LEDs, while the carbon rearview mirrors appear to be suspended as if to cleave the air. The large wraparound windscreen flows seamlessly into the roof and on into the rear mobile airfoil with its exaggeratedly long shape. Due to its dimensions of 4.960m in length, 2.080m in width and a height of 1.090m the concept expresses strength and power. To provide a better stability the car uses enlarged air intakes at the front, a flat underside, a mobile spoiler and air diffuser at the rear. Also the diamond-effect 21-inch aluminium wheels improve the stability of the vehicle.
