According to our sources it appears that Audi is going to reveal a crossover concept at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show next week. As expected, the new car will preview the upcoming Audi Q6, the direct rival to the popular Bmw X6. Of course, this doesn’t come as a surprise because back in November, Volkswagen unveiled the Cross Coupe Concept at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.
The new Audi crossover concept is expected to receive the same engine as the Cross Coupe which means that we will find a 110 kW TSI petrol engine delivering maximum torque of 210 Nm and an electric motor with an output of 40 kW and 180 Nm of torque. Just like the Volkswagen, the Audi will be able to act as a pure electric car thanks to the energy stored in the batteries but do expect to be capable to take you anywhere.
The Cross Coupe’s hybrid system delivers a total output of 195 kW, and thanks to the 8-module lithium ion battery it can travel up to 45 km using just electricity. Expect from the new Audi crossover concept the same fuel consumption: 2.7 litres per 100 km, equating to CO2.
