If you are in the market for a Ferrari 458 Italia but you were disappointed about the Italian car recall, you might consider this: a 1/8 scale model of the new sports vehicle which is cheaper and safer, than the real version.
This scale model is available in either red, yellow or black as standard but the manufacturer says that it can be fully personalized to suit individual specifications. Now take a look at the price: €4150 or $5344.
Now, why on earth you’d pay this amount of money for a scale model… Anyway, for those who don’t know, the Ferrari 458 Italia was launched back in 2009, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Ferari 458 Italia is powered by a 4499 cc mid rear-mounted V8 engine capable to deliver an impressive 578 hp at 9000 rpm and 540 Nm at 6000 rpm (over 80 per cent of which is available from 3250 rpm).
It produces 20 g/km of CO2 and fuel consumption is 13.7 l/100 km (combined cycle), rumored to be the best in the entire segment. It has a dry weight of just 1380 kg with a power-to-weight ratio of 2.42 kg/hp and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds while the top speed is in excess of 325 km/h (203 mph).
