Ferrari 599 GTO coming to the Paris Motor Show

The GTO (Gran Turismo Omolagato) name will once again be seen splashed in Ferrari's lineup - on a limited-edition, two-seat version of the F599 Fiorano GTB. The new car is equipped with bodywork and mechanical components from Ferrari's race-bound 599XX. The 599 GTO will debut at the Paris Motor Show in September. The last time that the GTO badge was applied to Ferrari's road car was on the 288 GTO in 1984. The new car has the following modifications ‚ a set of carbon-fiber exterior panels and a stripped-out interior and specially developed alloy wheels. These are all aimed at cutting 132 pounds from the 3,718-pound weight of the F599 Fiorano GTB.
Powering this upcoming car is an enhanced version of Ferrari's latest 48-valve, 6.0-liter V12 engine. The front-engine car unit delivers 650 hp, which is 30hp more than the F599 Fiorano GTB and only 10hp lower than Ferrari's most extreme road car, the Enzo. According to sources from Maranello, the new car could get an improved version of the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox used in the F458 Italia, instead of the six-speed automated-sequential-manual unit used by the F599 Fiorano GTB. The upcoming car can sprint from zero to 60mph in less than 3.5 seconds and it can hit a top speed of over 210mph.
Because of the added performance potential, Ferrari revised the F599 Fiorano GTB's aerodynamics. There were changes made to the air flow up front and an altered diffuser element was added at the rear to boost high-speed stability. The F599 Fiorano GTO also gets a heavily reworked suspension that pulls it down further and gives it a slightly wider track when compared to the F599 Fiorano GTB. Other revisions that are likely to be added include carbon-ceramic brakes and unique calibrations for the steering-wheel-mounted Manettino that enables the driver to manually adjust the traction- and stability-control systems.
