Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta
This is the Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta, a one-off supercar from the Italian manufacturer built for an American client. Second in a new Special Projects programme created by Ferrari to meet requests from the most discerning clients and collectors to create truly unique models, the new vehicle is based on the 599 GTB Fiorano (also make sure you check the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano China Limited Edition) and was inspired by a Carrozzeria Fantuzzi-designed Ferrari built specifically for the 1968 Fellini film, Toby Dammit. You may wonder who is the lucky guy who bought this piece of art, right? Well, he is Edward Walson, son of John Walson, the inventor of cable TV.
The new car was designed by Pininfatina and Walson (built in Maranello of course) in order to produce a modern reinterpretation of the gold-coloured car in the film. "I had always dreamed of designing sports cars, and when I saw this film the decision came of its own accord: one day I would have "my" Ferrari." said Walson. The new car respects all existing international safety and homologation requirements and uses light and strong materials such as carbon-fiber.
"This is the most special Christmas present of my life." said Walson when he received the car which was built in just 14 months. Regarding its dimensions, the car has a length of 4731 mm, width of 1954 mm and a height of just 1300 mm. Under the hood we find a 65 degrees V12 engine capable to deliver 620 hp at 7600 rpm and a maximum torque of 608 Nm at 5600 rpm.
