Ferrari’s hybrid version of 612 Scaglietti successor to debut at 2011 Geneva Motor Show

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti One-to-One
Ferrari boss Luca de Montezemolo dropped hints that Ferrari will debut a hybrid version of the 612 Scaglietti successor at the Geneva auto show this March. In an article from L'Equipe, a French sport magazine, Motezemolo was quoted to have said that Geneva will witness “a very different new Ferrari that proves [it is] adapting to a changing world.” This seems to correspond with rumors that the 2012 612 Scaglietti successor, which is anticipated to premiere in Geneva, will feature Ferrari’s HY-KERS hybrid system.
This debuted at the 2010 show in Geneva in the 599 HY-KERS concept earlier this year. In this vehicle, it’s believed that a 6.0 liter V12 with around 397 kW (533 hp / 540 PS) and 588 Nm (434 lb-ft) of torque will be mated to an electric motor delivering about 74kW (99 bhp/ 101 PS). It’s also likely that the 612 successor will get an F1-derived 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as well.
Ferrari had announced previously that it was developing a hybrid system that will go into production by 2015. It’s possible that Montezemolo had chosen to move up the launch date to 2012. But then, it could also be that Ferrari will introduce a separate concept car in Geneva that it will display beside the expected 612 successor. [via worldcarfans]
