A new cabriolet, the Fiat 500 C, is on its way to the Geneva Motor Show this coming March. The conversion from a coupe to a convertible did not involve the compromise of interior space, Fiat claimed. Coming with four seats the roof is, for the most part, accommodated in the trunk. Initial images do suggest that this convertible may have frameless doors contrary to what Fiat sources claim. The 500 C will be powered by a 1.2 liter and 1.4 liter gasoline powerplants found in the coupe version, although the possibility of a diesel engine is slim. Furthermore, it also comes with an unprecedented stop-start system that shuts down the engine when it idles at a predetermined length of time in the process generating an 8% fuel savings. The start-stop system will filter over to the coupe models this spring and will also reach Fiat models that are yet to be released. A version of the 500 C tuned by Abarth is also forthcoming. Pricing for the 500 C is not yet available, but sales will commence right after it its introduction.
