The award-garnering Fiat 500 city car begins at an on-the-road price tag of under £8,000 once more, courtesy of the Chancellor's latest reduction in the VAT price. Customers and industry reporters were shocked when the Fiat 500 range was inaugurated with an entry-level tag of only £7,900 for the 1.2-liter Pop in January. The asking price increased to £8,100 in the summer. On the other hand, the latest VAT charge of 15 percent signifies that the price has been reduced once more, to only £7,929. The 2.5 percent reduction in VAT has profited all other vehicles in the Fiat range. For instance, the Fiat Panda series now begins at only £6,859 for the 1.1 Active, the Fiat Grande Punto line starts at £9,056 for the 1.4 Active, while the Fiat Multipla passenger carrier now begins at £13,751 for the 1.6 16v Dynamic Family. "It has been praised for its style, eco-friendliness, road manners and economy. Now the Fiat 500 has re-affirmed its terrific value for money with this latest list price," says the marketing director of Fiat UK, Elena Bernardelli.
