Fiat 500 Giardiniera, the next Italian mini-SUV?

There are reports suggesting that the impending Fiat 500 Giardiniera could be a mini-SUV, which will be built on a stretched variant of the underpinnings of the 500. Further reports are saying that it could come with a four-wheel-drive system based on the Fiat Panda 4x4, allowing the carmaker to specifically target the Mini Crossover. However, like the Fiat 500, the Giardiniera will be a three-door vehicle. There is an unlikelihood that it will come with rear-hinged doors found in the original model, although there is a likelihood of roof rails and an extensive foldable soft-top sunroof, just like that found on the forthcoming 500C. With release set for 2010, Fiat is said to be putting 30,000 units in production.
