Fiat 500 receives start-stop technology

A start-stop technology is currently available for the Fiat 500 making it more fuel-efficient and less harmful to the environment. The Fiat 500 Start & Stop is the latest technology patterned after the most successful 500 version, the 1.2 Lounge, to take advantage of the accumulated expertise of Bosch and Fiat Powertrain Technologies. Like all other start-stop systems, the Fiat 500 version powers down automatically when the car come to a full stop and starts again when the driver depresses the accelerator. Offered at a price of £9,500, the Fiat 500 Start & Stop is the most eco-friendly version in the Fiat 500 gasoline lineup. With the start-stop system, CO2 emissions on the 1.2-liter gasoline engine is measured at 113 g/km, while fuel usage is lowered by a maximum of 12 percent.
