Fiat 500C Diesel Edition auctioned for AIDS research

There will be a fund-raising gala that will be headed by Cinema Against AIDS for the benefit of AmFAR or the American Foundation for AIDS research, the group that is in charge of raising funds for the fight against AIDS. The event will be held on May 21, 2009 during the 62nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The charity auction 17th edition will be held at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes. Among the guests of the event one of the most anticipated is former president Bill Clinton who will be hosting the auction together with Sharon Stone and film producer Harvey Weinstein. Annie Lennox, singer and founder of the Eurythmics, will be staging a performance in aid of AmFar for the big wigs from both the fashion and film industries in the hope of raising more than what they did last year, which was $7 million.
Among those that will be auctioned at the event will include an exclusive Fiat 500C by DIESEL which was a joint venture of Fiat and Renzo Rosso. The Fiat 500C by DIESEL, which is a one-off car that is not offered for sale, merges the two worlds of fashion and automotive, which actually have a lot in common. The Special Series comes with a potent 1.4-liter, 100hp powerplant and distinctive DIESEL green bodywork with a matching black top.
The vehicles will come with the same aesthetically appealing external features including 16-inch alloys designed with the eye-catching DIESEL emblem together with yellow brake calipers and DIESEL-marked side moldings and side mirror cover both finished in satin steel together with the grill, bumpers and distinctive feelers on them. Also featuring the DIESEL emblem is the rear panel, and five air vents that generate the featured detail of the cooling system of the iconic 500. The strong customizations flow into the interior with denim upholstery with yellow stitching branded with DIESEL. The brand logo has also been placed on the instrument panel with a distinguishing yellow background and on the gear level knob and a special pocket on both sides of the front seats suggestive of the famous fifth pocket on DIESEL jeans.
