What Fiat will release next in the U.S. is a small crossover code-named Ellezero that is set to arrive in the country as a 2013 model. It’s expected to debut at the Geneva auto show and is slated to reach Europe in the middle of 2012. The Ellezero is likely to be the smallest crossover offered in the U.S. It is reminiscent of the rounded appearance of the Fiat 100.
It’s expected to have the rounded appearance of the Fiat 500, and will also share its 1.4-liter gasoline engine. The B-segment Ellezero will be available in five- and seven-passenger variants.
It’s expected to be produced on Fiat's SUSW (Small U.S. Wide) platform, which will also look at the new compact Jeep crossover in the U.S., including replacements from oveseas consisting of the Fiat Punto and Palio. The Ellezero will be going up against models like the Ford B-Max and the Opel Meriva in Europe. The Ellezero will be produced at Fiat's Serbian factory, which was once owned by Zastava, which built the Fiat-based Yugo. [source: InsideLine]
