Fiat plans to produce a new model in Serbia

Fiat plans to expand its Serbian investment over the next two years and will build another vehicle in the Balkan country that should make its debut in 2012, at the Geneva Motor Show. The new car is will be a 7-seater and will be produced along with the Punto hatchback, which is already produced at the plant in Kragujevac in central Serbia, according to Novosti newspaper reported, citing Deputy Prime Minister Mladjan Dinkic. This new expansion will bring the Fiat investment to 944 million euros ($1.2 billion) from around 800 million euros previously. The Serbian government will also support this expansion with its own investment in infrastructure, according to Novosti. [via autonews - sub. required]
