It is believed that Fiat will sign the deal to purchase Italian coachbuilder Bertone this week, trade union sources have said. The Italian industry ministry approved Fiat's bid for Bertone last August, says Autonews. It is prepared to invest 150 million euro over three years in the company. It is unknown what models will be built; however, CEO Sergio Marchionne has confirmed that Fiat will build Chrysler cars at its plant near Turin. It is likely that production will resume at the plant in late 2011 after volume production ended in late 2005. Bertone's designing segment was unaffected by the collapse of the coachbuilders.
