Fiat working on a hybrid version of the 500 TwinAir

2010 Fiat 500 TwinAir

There are reports that Fiat is working on a hybrid variant of its 500 TwinAir supermini, which can get 100 mpg. Because of the compact packaging of three components (TwinAir 900cc two-cylinder motor, combined with a hybrid motor and Fiat's dual clutch transmission), Fiat was able to fit them under the hood. This resolves the issue on practicality. Meanwhile, the hybrid system, which could possibly allow for rapid acceleration away from stoplights, would maximize the 500's city driving capabilities. It has an output of 84hp. Later in this model's life cycle, Fiat will add a non-turbo version, and a 104hp TwinAir variant.
