Fisker Automotive has decided to buy a former GM assembly plant in the eastern state of Delaware where it will build its Nina plug-in electric car starting 2012. Fisker reportedly intends to roll out 100,000 Nina EVs annually in the US. Each car is estimated to be priced at US$47,000. The big announcement is set to be made on Tuesday at the Wilmington plant. Henrik Fisker, CEO and founder of the firm, and US vice president Joe Biden, a former Delaware senator, will be there to inform everyone about this development. The Wilmington factory, which had built the Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice and Opel GT sports cars, was closed in July. GM now wants to sell it to help repay its creditors.
