Fisker preparing new model derived from the Karma sedan for Frankfurt

Fisker Karma

Fisker will be introducing a new production car at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Nothing has been confirmed yet but it’s believed that it will be derived from the Karma sedan. It’s likely that the vehicle will be built on the same platform and will use the Karma's range-extended electric drivetrain. This car, which is set to arrive in the market next year, will be built at Fisker’s Valmet site, which is also the facility that produces the Karma.

Fisker has major expansion plans. A convertible model will be added to its range. The Karma is likely to arrive in 2015. In a separate matter, Fisker had reached a deal to use BMW four-cylinder turbocharged engines.

These 2.0-liter units will be used for the upcoming "Nina project,” a lineup of medium-sized vehicles that will be launched in 2013. Fisker has pledged that the vehicle will be very efficient and will offer a revolutionary design. The first model that will come out is a saloon, which is targeted at the premium segment. It’s believed to be priced at around $50,000.
