As startup company Fisker Automotive Inc. prepares to deliver its first production vehicles to retail customers, it is raising $100 million more, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. However, Fisker didn’t name the investors. Last March, Fisker had completed a $190 million financing round.
It began making the $88,000 rechargeable Karma sports car in March at Valmet Automotive Oy's plant in Uusikaupunki, Finland. This car can travel 50 miles purely on electricity before a gasoline engine comes in to power the vehicle.
Full production of the vehicle is only expected to start after the first 3,000 customers get their cars. Based in Irvine, Calif., Fisker produces luxury plug-in hybrid sports cars. It was founded by auto designer Henrik Fisker.
