Ford GT90 Concept to be auctioned by RM Auctions

Ford GT90 ConceptThe GT90, which Ford considers to be “the world’s mightiest supercar,” will be sold to the highest bidder at RM Auctions’ Automobiles of Arizona event. The GT90, the spiritual successor of the GT40 of the 1960s, is typical of the many Ford concepts of the era.

The GT90 makes use of Ford’s “New Edge” design language, which means that triangular panels and sharp edges are found throughout the car. The concept had made use of a quad-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 that pumped out about 720 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque. Ford claims the car has a top speed of over 253 mph. Ford’s SVT staff, which are responsible for building the concept, accessed the corporate parts bin to do so. The V-12 was created by combining two 4.6-liter V-8 blocks — each with two cylinders taken out — while the suspension and five-speed transmission were kept from the Jaguar XJ220. The RM Auctions of Arizona event features a number of historic concepts slated to roll across the auction block. Take note that this marks the first time the GT90 will be offered for sale.
