Ford increases production after strong cash-for-clunkers demand

Sales of Ford's small cars are being buoyed by the Cash for Clunkers program. In fact, the Blue Oval is cranking up production and making auto workers at the Wayne Assembly plant rack up overtime to meet the demand. Aside from the Ford Focus, other top-selling brands that benefited from the scrappage program are the Toyota Corolla and the Ford Escape. As a result of Ford's increased production, there will be an additional 6,400 Focuses rolling down the line. Ford reported a 44% increase in Focus sales in July over the previous month.
