Ford Logo

The ultimate step for the current and insatiable quest for efficiency, performance and seamless power delivery is the implementation of a dual-clutch transmission. Dual-clutch units, previously the sphere of high-end performance cars, have been filtering to everyday cars from Audi, Volkswagen and others for some time. It was announced by Ford that starting 2010 its products will be joining the list of those who have adopted the dual-clutch system. This upcoming Ford dual clutch is called the PowerShift, and Volvo has already started producing the units in its C30 among others. The PowerShift has the capacity to operate in both auto and paddle-shifted manual, although there will be variations in individual implementations. The dual clutch system has been acclaimed for both its power and efficiency.
