Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) has come out with a limited edition GT RSPEC model for the Australian market. This sporty sedan is focused on track performance. This marks the first time that a GT RSPEC will get a launch control function, together with suspension modifications. Notably, FPV has left the engine performance untouched. It also didn’t provide stronger brakes. The RSPEC has a starting price of $76,990 Australian dollars, with only 350 to be produced. It will get a paint and stripe package similar to what the classic Mustangs had from the 1960s. The RSPEC is expected to be positioned between the range-topping GT-P/GT-E models and the GT, which has a price tag of $70,790.
The luxury flagship GT-P has a starting price of $82,090 while the GT-E models start $82,490. The sedan is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter Boss 335 powerplant with an output of 449-hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. The engine is partnered to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed ZF automatic box. Bernie Quinn, chief engineer of Prodrive Australia, parent company of FPV, explained that the new launch system used in the GT RSPEC would help optimize torque delivery for smooth, consistent launch on typical road surfaces.
The revisions to the rear suspension include upgraded lower control arms, higher spring rates, retuned dampers, and a thicker sway bar. The front of the GT RSPEC also now features modified dampers, stiffer upper control arm bushes, and upper strut mounts. Of the 350 units, half will use the black with red accent while the other 175 will use either red, white, or blue, with black accents.
