Ford planning to increase its production for the third quarter

Although good news is hard to come by in the auto industry nowadays, Ford is coming out with the news that it will be increasing its production for the third quarter of this year, although it will not be for diminutives exclusively.

The planned production boost will be for the Escape compact SUV, Edge crossover and the full-size F-150 Super Crew. Reports say that Ford intends to produce 460,000 units by the third quarter, an increase of about 10 percent from 2008. Ford says that this has nothing to do with GM's filing of bankruptcy but only a move to meet the growing demands for the particular models.

Ford dealers have currently 78 days' worth of products on hand and this will be expected to go lower by 60 at the end of May. It was in 2007, when Ford's inventories dropped below the 60-day mark, and also the last year when production was increased.
