Last year, when the prices of fuel hit an unprecedented high, it caused car makers to react with a horde of new cars and trucks that are capable of squeezing out more miles per gallon of fuel.

In this regard, Ford came out with its most current F-150 pickup truck for the 2009 MY, which was released with an optional Superior Fuel Economy (SFE) edition that came with numerous fuel-saving improvements and its long-running three-valve 4.6-liter V8 power unit. However, after just a year on the market, Ford intends to drop the SFE model for next year, but the carmaker will continue to provide a two-wheel-drive, four-door variant of the F-150 with a fuel-economy rating of 15/21mpg, matching the SFE-equipped model. It looks like that what has been dropped is only the designation, but not the capability. GM is reportedly going to offer a model that will rival the former SFE’s fuel economy rating and it will carry the XFE brand, but the F-150 has a towing capacity of an additional 500lbs more, does not need a cover for the rear seating, and when it goes off-road, the chin spoiler doesn’t need to be removed.
