Ford, the only multi-brand group in the US to see an increase, recorded a 2% rise in year-on-year sales in July in the US. Sales rose from 161,530 units in July 2008 to 165,279 units last month. While General Motors and Chrysler both saw their sales improve this year, Lincoln was the sole Ford brand that recorded a drop in US sales last month. Worst performing of the multi-brand groups in the US is the BMW Group, with year-on-year sales down 27 percent. Subaru was the best performer among the individual brands with sales up 34 percent on last year. Volvo also had a good month, with its sales up 26 percent. Saab sold the smallest number of cars in the US in July, selling only 574 units, a figure 72 percent down on July 2008.
