On Wheels Media's award for the Urban Automobile of the Year goes to the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO. On Wheels Media has been staging this award for 14 years now. Randi Payton, president and publisher of On Wheels Media, said that the award is given to cars that resonate with the majority of new car buyers who live in urban and suburban areas.

The vehicles that are chosen are cost and fuel-efficient and possess performance and safety characteristics that are found to be relevant to consumers in metropolitan areas. To describe the new SHO, the press release uses the words: athletic, upscale, class-leading, confident, engaging and impressive. Meanwhile, the award for the green Urban Automobile of the Year goes to the 2010 Fusion Hybrid. Obvious choices would have been the latest Toyota Prius and Honda Insight but the 2010 Fusion Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient midsize sedan in America at 41 city, 36 highway. This makes it earn the trophy, giving Ford a huge boost.
