Ford to allow drivers to connect to Internet music such as Pandora

Fans of Pandora, the Web-based, customizable radio station, are sure to be delighted with Ford's latest feature. As part of a Sync system that allows drivers to use the service while behind the wheel, this feature code-named SyncLink would allow users to download applications for Sync. This isn´t unlike the downloading of apps for the Apple iPhone. The Detroit Free Press states that Ford will make the platform open-source.
This ensures that developers are encouraged to create and develop numerous applications from on-demand traffic information to personalized news feeds. There aren´t many details available at this point. Many are anticipating that Ford CEO Alan Mulally will be providing more information at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show on January 7. For now, Ford is offering Sync owners a new application called SyncMyPhone, which downloads contact lists from desktop or laptop computers and saves the information into the car's phonebook.
