2013 Ford Fusion Nascar Sprint Cup Car

The 2013 Ford Fusion NASCAR Sprint Cup car was launched on Tuesday as part of the Charlotte Motor Speedway Media Tour. Ford’s engineers built this new car so that identity would be brought back to the sport. The 2013 Sprint Cup car is a reflection of the newly presented 2013 Fusion production car. The 2013 Fusion Cup car, which is said to be the face of a new era of stock-car racing, features a totally redesigned sleek silhouette and new face. Jamie Allison, director of Ford Racing, said that they hoped that Fusion will help “return stock car to NASCAR.”

He thinks that when fans see the car, they will be pleased and it will encourage them to return to the sport upon realizing that “there is just something natural about seeing race cars that look like cars in their driveways.” He noted that this is the third time that Ford launched production and NASCAR versions of a new model at the same time. The fastback Ford Torino was the first dual launch in 1968. That same year and in 1969 too, NASCAR championships were won by iconic driver David Pearson behind the wheel of a Torino. The second time took place in 2006, when the Ford Fusion (which recently had its introduction back then) showed up in various showrooms as well as on the track.

Ford used a different approach when it developed the 2013 Fusion racer. During the past year, development of the early design was handled by Ford Design Center staff, headed by Garen Nicoghosian, and Ford aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus. This meant that Ford race teams got the time to focus on the weekly NASCAR competition. Allison said that they have made race cars that are race versions of street cars. Allison said that the 2013 Fusion is a “stunning car” and that the 2013 NASCAR Fusion is “even more stunning” – guaranteed to make race fans reconnect to the sport when they see it on the track.
