Ford’s last recall will be linked to fire hazard

In its latest recall (its eighth) related to faulty cruise-control deactivation switches, Ford Motor Co. made sure that it will be the last.
The manufacturer decided to cover all remaining cars and trucks that have these switches made by Texas Instruments, even if there were no safety risks linked to the switches of those models. In an interview, Ford spokesman said Wes Sherwood said that this is being done to reassure customers and to ensure that there will be no future accidents related to this risk. Lengths were taken to include both vehicles with risks and those that don't show risk.
Unsurprisingly, government figures show that this recall is the largest in U.S. history and about twice the size of the second-largest U.S. recall, which also involved Ford. About 14 million vehicles were affected by these recalls. Sherwood said that an additional 2 million of these vehicles have been junked by owners over the years.
