The new 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine from Ford is the winner of the 2012 International Engine of the Year – the first time for Ford to get this recognition in the 13 years that the awards have been around. Ford launched this engine earlier this year in the Ford Focus. There were also awards for the "Best New Engine" and "Best Engine Under 1.0-litre.” However, the awards were presented by Engine Technology International magazine, Two other awards were given to the small, high-tech, three-cylinder engine - "Best New Engine" and "Best Engine Under 1.0-litre" - in the awards presented by Engine Technology International magazine, according to votes cast by 76 journalists from 35 countries worldwide. Ford said that the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is could attain its highest score ever. According to Joe Bakaj, Ford global powertrain vice president, the bar has been very high when they began to design the engine. He said that he hoped to offer amazing fuel economy, excitable performance, quietness and refinement soon. For those who don’t know, Ford’s new 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine delivers 100 PS in the new Focus and a best-in-class fuel efficiency of 58.9mpg and CO2emissions of 109g/km. The 125PS model returns 56.5mpg with CO2 emissions of 114g/km.
