Peugeot had to present its 308 R Concept before was launched at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) because some of its photos had leaked. Powering the new concept car is the same 4-cylinder 1.6-liter engine used on the RCZ R. This gives the car the ability to deliver 270 bhp and 330 Nm of torque from 1900 to 5500 rpm.
The front wheels get the power through the six-speed manual transmission and Torsen differential. Because of these figures, Peugeot put in a top-performing braking system that came with Alcon discs (380 mm in diameter and 32 mm thick on the front and 330 mm and 2 mm at the rear). The braking system is concealed at the back of a set of 19-inch bespoke wheels covered in 235/35 R19 tyres.
When it comes to design, Peugeot is offering a new carbon fiber bodykit that has a restyled front bumper with large air intakes, a front bonnet with two air vents, side skirts, exterior mirrors built using carbon fiber too, a new rear roof spoiler and a rear bumper with integrated air diffuser and two tailpipes.
The Full LED headlamps, derived from the new 308, give the vehicle a feline look and are placed within the lower front panel via its 3D ‘teeth’. In addition, the 308 R Concept gets an oblique cut line inspired by the Onyx Supercar Concept.
