Audi prepares to make a big splash at the Frankfurt Motor Show and has three models for public debuts during the event -- the S5 Sportback, the A4 3.0TDI clean diesel quattro and the A3 1.2 TFSI. It's believed that Audi is planning to bring in as a surprise one or three models too. The S5 Sportback, which is obviously an A5 Sportback derivative, is famous for its five-door coupe configuration and its engine ‚ a 3.0-liter V6 fitted with a supercharger.
It makes 245kW (333hp) and 440Nm of torque between 2,900rpm and 5,300rpm and allows the car to go from 0 - 100km/h in 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 250km/h. Average fuel consumption is a provisional 9.7 liters per 100km (24.25 mpg US).
The S5 Sportback comes with 18-inch wheels, a quattro sports differential, a seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission and electrically adjustable S sports seats covered with Silk Nappa leather. The car will be launched in the spring of 2010. Base price will be €57,900 in Germany. The next model to be unveiled is the A4 3.0TDI clean diesel quattro.
Its new common-rail injection system can generate up to 2,000 bar of pressure. The engine features pressure sensors in the combustion chamber and a DeNOX catalytic converter. With these innovations, the car ensures an average of 6.7 liters per 100km (35.11 mpg US) and boasts the ability to go from 0 - 100km/h in 6.2 seconds.
Most importantly, the car meets Euro 6 standards expected to become law in 2014. The third model that Audi confirmed will be shown is the A3 1.2 TFSI with a 1,197cc turbo engine. Weighing 89.5kg (197.31 lbs), the engine produces 77kW (105hp) and has maximum torque of 175Nm between 1,500rpm and 3,500rpm.
Average fuel consumption is 5.5 liters per 100km (42.77 mpg US) and C02 emissions are set at 127g/km. Rumors had been circulating that an RS3 will make its debut at Frankfurt but an Audi official says that there's no possibility of this happening. What is more likely to be seen is the R8 Spyder/Cabriolet which is based on the R8 V10.
