Sources say that MINI is planning to release more limited edition models and that one of these is a brand new Highgate flavor. So far, very few details have been revealed but MotoringFile said that the special edition convertible may be named Highgate and would probably be developed by MINI Yours, the in-house division tasked to install exclusive and pricier features on MINI models.
To make sure that the new model will be similar to its predecessors, MINI wants this Highgate edition to have unique exterior and interior features such as a special paint named Ice Chocolate Metallic.
Furthermore, the cabin will be customized with Chocolate-painted leather with contrasting white stitching. The features that will be offered on the new special edition MINI include automatic climate control, on-board computer, Bluetooth with USB audio, fog lamps, and a sports leather steering wheel. It is rumored that the Highgate convertible will be released within the next few months with a 2012 model year.
The pricing information for the vehicle will likely be announced with its unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
In early 2011, the MINI Hampton edition, which was developed by MINI Yours engineers, was released. It has already started selling in numerous markets in Europe, such as the United Kingdom.
The Cooper Hampton is priced at 20,360 British pounds while the Cooper SD Clubman Hampton has a price tag of 23,185 pounds.
The features that are offered as standard include automatic climate control, Bluetooth with USB Audio, on-board computer, fog lamps, a light package, a sports leather steering wheel, and a storage pack.
The other stand-out features are the exclusive 17-inch Twin Spoke alloy wheels with centre caps that have a Damson Red lining (wheels in Silver or Black), MINI 50 Hampton badging, and Bi-Xenon headlights with black interior reflectors.
