Stand-alone messages app now available for PlayStation Network members

Sony has released the PlayStation Messages app. Available for both iOS and Android platforms, the Messages App will extend gamers’ relationships with PlayStation Network members from their consoles to their smartphones.

With the app, they can now send messages to their PSN friends list using only an iOS or Android phone. According to Sony, the app was developed in response to heavy use of Messages in the PlayStation App.

With the app, Sony hopes that the streamlined design of the new Messages App will make communication between friends in the PS Network smoother and faster than before. When you use the app, you can see your full friends list and Favorite Groups.

You can then use the app to send text or voice messages to your network, complete with your favorite attachments like emoticons and stickers. You can also send files as attachment as well! Making PS4 a socially connected experience has always been one of our primary goals.

We believe that this app will help enrich that connectivity even further. Download the app and share with us your experience in using it.

Sony believes that the app will help bridge gamers further, which is in line with the company’s stated goal of connecting gamers beyond the games that they play. Players can now download the app to their smartphones and leave feedback to let Sony know what they think.
