Anadolu Group, a Turkish auto dealer, has outlined its proposal to the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. to set up an assembly plant to build Geely-brand cars in Turkey. A Geely spokesman confirmed that Anadolu President Tuncay Ozilhan had met with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao who made a visit to Turkey earlier this month. However, Geely has yet to come to a decision on this matter. Based in Hangzhou in Zhejiang province, Geely had completed the $1.8 billion purchase of Volvo Car Corp. from Ford Motor Co. last August. In addition, the private automaker sells cars under its own Emgrand, Global Eagle and Englon brands. Geely already has several overseas operations, including assembly plants in Russia, the Ukraine and Indonesia. Geely owner Li Shufu said that it may also buy General Motors Co.'s assembly plant in Antwerp, Belgium.
