General Motors expects to sell 100,000 vehicles in 2010 in India

General Motors Co. anticipates a 43% increase in sales in India, from 70,000 sold in 2009 to a predicted 100,000 vehicles in 2010, according to Karl Slym, president and managing director of General Motors India.

In addition, the company expects to sell 5,000 units monthly of the newly launched Chevrolet Beat. First announced about a year ago, the Beat is the Indian market version of the GM-Daewoo redesigned Spark that is sold mainly as a Chevrolet worldwide.

The Beat is already on sale in many markets. Slym told Reuters that the Beat could be a "ºreal game changer in the Indian mini-car segment."
