General Motors planning to improve its dealerships

General Motors' dealerships have drastically decreased in number and with a goal for the remaining stores to be on top of the line, it has decided to help upgrade its stores.
GM has got its work cut out for it since it says that only a third of dealers meet their new standard, one-third need some help and one-third need "a lot of help."
GM Sales Chief Mark LaNeve says that customers are now used to a standard of quality, comparing the standards expected from a McDonalds store with one of its dealerships. He said that it's expected that the stores are clean and have nice restrooms and for certain safety and quality standards to be met.
LaNeve anticipates that dealers will like the plan since more money is to be made with an upgraded store. Russ Shelton, a Rochester Hills dealer, said that customers have come to expect a nicer retail experience.
What are these upgrades about exactly? Aside from the cleanliness and safety standards, some GM dealerships serve customers coffee and a muffin while they wait for service. Others have waiting rooms that look like a bus station.
