General Motors: We keep Saab, Hummer for sale!

General Motors does not mean to sell any of its brands apart from Hummer, company CEO Rick Wagoner has verified.

Asked whether the company was going to scatter its brands, Wagoner informed Automotive News: "Our focus right now in this regard is exclusively on Hummer. We want to see how that plays out. We are getting some interest in it."

Wagoner also said that the GM has not had any offers coming from Opel-Vauxhall or GM of China. "We've got some other assets that we're looking at selling," he said, "but not brands."

That means Saab, whose future within GM has many times appeared noticeably uncertain, and which has had the opening of its crucial new 9-5 model delayed until 2010, will remain as part of the car maker's collection.

The Detroit car manufacturers are petitioning for financial aid this year, authorized by the present "lame duck" Congress, prior to Barack Obama's becoming president on 20th of January 2009.

Wagoner made it certain that GM is keen to sign up to identical business limitations that the banks have established. [source autocar]
